Aureole, 2024

The Aureole is a lamp developed in 2024 by Lea Gerber(Atelier Volvox), Deirdre O‘Leary and Helena Ťapajnová.This luminous object was developed from extensive research into the recycling of glass waste and the resulting possibilities for artistic production processes. In addition to the processes of recycling, the connection between glass and light, the relationship between surface design and lighting effect were the subject of the artists and designers investigation.
The light object is made of transparent cast glass, interspersed with embedded coloured fragments that create a rich interplay of colours when switched on. The depth created by the thickness of the glass draws the eye in as if by a magnetic pull, inviting the viewer on a visual journey of discovery.
A discreet brass suspension bracket forms the technical heart of the light: both the glass and the light source are attached to it. With just a single fixing point, the Aureole can be installed with ease.
Thanks to the handcrafted manufacturing process, every light is unique. Its warm white, dimmable LED bulb creates an atmospheric ambience – inviting you to immerse yourself in the intimacy of the night.
